The Tentsile Stingray Tree Tent Gets Reviewed

I really love camping. There is something incredibly exhilarating about being out in the great outdoors, sleeping amongst the sounds and smells of the wilderness around you. Of course camping has its downsides too – if the weather turns against you or your equipment isn’t up to snuff then it can be a fairly miserable way to spend your time. One of the essential pieces of your kit that will define your camping experience is your tent. Tent design has certainly come a long way since I first started grappling with primitive tents that always seemed impossible to erect and incredibly flimsy in even the slightest breeze and no protection at all against anything heavier than a few drops of rain. That’s why a design innovation such as the Tentsile Stingray Tree Tent is incredibly exciting.

Portable Tree House

The Tentsile Stingray Tree Tent is a three person tree tent – it’s often referred to as a portable tree house and you can see why. It is a simple way to create a unique communal camping space high off the ground – in a way it is like a three-person hammock. Of course you need to be a bit cautious about the maximum weight-load, total load that the tent can bear is 880 pounds.

The recommended height for set up is 4 feet from the ground. The way that you get into the tent is through a floor hatch that is located in the centre of the tent. If the conditions are suitable you can pitch the tent on the ground and use the door flap for entry and exit. The tent is easy to set up and easy to take down. One of the other benefits of this tent is that it eliminates the need for a sleeping pad.

Insect Protection

One of the big challenges of any camping expedition is surviving the insects. The difficulty of traditional tents is that the insects always seem to be able to find a way in – nothing ruins my love of nature quicker than waking up covered in mosquito bites. What I love about the Tentsile Stingray Tree Tent is that it comes with a full insect mesh roof – not only does this keep the insects at bay but it means that you get total ventilation and also uninterrupted views of the world in which you’re camping. Additional flexibility is also added by the removable fly sheet (that comes in all sorts of colors) that creates an extra layer of protection against the weather.

The Challenges

While the Tentsile Stingray Tree Tent is perfect for when you are out exploring the wild places of the world, if you are planning to stay in commercial camping sites then you may find that there simply aren’t any trees available for you to attach your portable tree house to.

Cost of The Tentsile Stingray Tree Tent

At a price of $749, you better love what you’re getting. You can sometimes be hard pressed to find a tent at such a high price but then again, you’re life depends on this tent holding.

Take your camping to the next level, literally, with the Tentsile Stingray Tree Tent – you will be the envy of all of your friends and it will give you a new love for the great outdoors.
