I really love camping. There is something incredibly exhilarating about being out in the great outdoors, sleeping amongst the sounds and smells of the wilderness around you. Of course camping has its downsides too – if the weather turns against you or your equipment isn’t up to snuff then it can be a fairly miserable way to spend your time. One of the essential pieces of your kit that will define your camping experience is your tent. Tent design has certainly come a long way since I first started grappling with primitive tents that always seemed impossible to erect and incredibly flimsy in even the slightest breeze and no protection at all against anything heavier than a few drops of rain. That’s why a design innovation such as the Tentsile Stingray Tree Tent is incredibly exciting.

Portable Tree House

The Tentsile Stingray Tree Tent is a three person tree tent – it’s often referred to as a portable tree house and you can see why. It is a simple way to create a unique communal camping space high off the ground – in a way it is like a three-person hammock. Of course you need to be a bit cautious about the maximum weight-load, total load that the tent can bear is 880 pounds.

The recommended height for set up is 4 feet from the ground. The way that you get into the tent is through a floor hatch that is located in the centre of the tent. If the conditions are suitable you can pitch the tent on the ground and use the door flap for entry and exit. The tent is easy to set up and easy to take down. One of the other benefits of this tent is that it eliminates the need for a sleeping pad.
